Med seats filled, only 47 BDS seats left under 7.5 pc quota

On the second day of medical counselling, all 227 MBBS seats were filled for government school students under the 7.5% reservation quota. Meanwhile, 33 out of the 80 BDS seats were filled, leaving 47 seats open in the category.

“The counselling for government school students continued on Thursday and we have filled all available MBBS seats and are expecting to fill the BDS seats on Friday for government school students. Following which we will have counselling for children of sportspersons and children with disability,” said R Narayana Babu, director of medical education.

On the second day, a total of 374 candidates from government schools were called for medical counselling on Thursday which was held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Outdoor Stadium. There were 303 candidates attending and 71 absentees. There were 123 seats allotted on the second day, with 85 MBBS course seats and 38 dental seats.

Within the MBBS category, only three seats were given in government colleges and 82 in the self-financing category. Similarly, there were only five seats were given in government colleges, while there were 33 in the self-financing category.

Of the participants, zero candidates opted out and 180 candidates are on the waitlist. So far, 358 seats have been allotted for government school students under the 7.5 per cent reservation quota as announced by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.
