With about 300 MBBS seats earmarked for students from government schools after the implementation of 7.5 per cent horizontal reservation from this year, more than 30,000 students from the State-run schools have so far registered for free online coaching in the e-box platform that would be organised by the School Education department.

A senior official from the Department told DT Next that the government was preparing several modules and comprehensive study materials that have been introduced in the free training programme this year. The detailed study notes were prepared by IITians and other experts, he said.

“Students will get detailed self-explanatory, step-by-step solutions with logical explanations to accelerate the preparation. A question bank containing more than 10,000 solutions covering new State board syllabus of Class 11 and 12 will also be provided to the students,” said the official.

The online training would have four-hour video lecturers by NEET experts and four-hour practice session, the official said new video modules based on NEET syllabus have been created this year for physics, chemistry and biology. When students give a wrong answer to a question during a practice session, the question would be automatically added to the student’s personal revision list.

After schools are reopened, arrangements would be made to involve more experts in the medical field, who would regularly visit government NEET coaching centres. The official said the authorities would also ensure that the registered students have access to electronic devices such computers before NEET online training. “Regular offline classes will begin after the reopening of schools,” he added.
