VCK leader Ravikumar on Friday commented that actor Rajinikanth’s tweet hinting that he would not float a party due to coronavirus outbreak and his health is a huge setback for the BJP.

“Real fans of actor Rajinikanth will understand the reasons pitched in by the actor for delaying his political debut. For the first time the actor has revealed that he had undergone a kidney transplant a few years ago this should be respected,” said political commentator Tharasu Shyaam. But, there are politically motivated followers of Rajinikanth who want the actor to float a party so that they will benefit. This latest announcement again lacking clarity on entering politics will be a huge setback for such followers of Rajinikanth.

Further, already Rajini Makkal Mandram workers in Kanniyakumari district have started leaving the Mandram looking out for political opportunities, Shyaam added.

“The actor has not openly said that he is not going to enter politics. There is time and the options are kept open. If Rajinikanth is going to float a party, BJP will certainly back the spiritual politics campaigned by the actor,” a BJP leader told DT Next. At the same time, BJP will also accept Rajini followers if they wish to the join BJP, a saffron party insider said.

“In my views, there is hardly any time left for the actor to float a party. Further, it is the right of Rajinikanth to enter or stay away from politics. But pandemic, if handled well, is a great opportunity for politicians,” opined political commentator R Mani. Fitness is certainly an issue for the star and his followers, Mani noted.

However, a section of politicians, including Thamizh Aruvi Manian, AC Shanmugham, Arjun Sambath and Karate R Thiagarajan are hoping that Rajini will launch the party by early next year.
