VCK chief insulted Hindu women, must apologise: Khushbu

Actor politician Khushbu Sundar, who recently joined the BJP, demanded VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan to give an apology for denigrating women. Addressing a press conference at Kamalayam, BJP headquarters here on Friday, Khushbu stated that Thirumavalavan has denigrated Hindu women by stating that Manudharma had exploited women.

The words used by Thirumavalavan to describe women cannot be accepted in public life.

VCK leader is an elected representative, but his speech and choice of words cannot be accepted. Believing a religion or not is a private matter, but denigrating women quoting a religion cannot be tolerated, Khushbu said.

This is not an issue with the religion, but you have denigrated the women following a religion. Such sarcastic words show the respect Thirumavalavan has for women, Khushbu said.

It may be noted that Thirumavalavan recently while addressing a gathering said that Manudharma had quoted women as a subject of flesh trade.

Joining the issue, Thirumavalavan in a media release said that a section of caste Hindus and BJP leaders were building a foisted campaign against him.

“I quoted what is there in Manudharma, but there is a vested campaign against me stating, I denigrated women,” he said. He also announced that the party will stage a statewide demonstration on Saturday seeking a total ban on Manudharma books.

VCK spokesperson Vaniyarasu said that his party will lodge a police complaint against BJP leader H Raja for propagating falsehood against their leader Thirumavalavan.

Case filed against Thirumavalavan

Meanwhile, the Cyber crime wing of the Chennai police on Friday booked VCK chief and MP Thol Thirumavalavan under six sections of the IPC - under sections 153, 295 A, 298, 505 (1) (9B), and Section 505 (2) for his alleged derogatory remarks on Hindu women while referring to Manusmriti.

The Dalit leader was booked based on a complaint filed from one Ashwathama from Parry’s corner.
