Governor, state leaders condole death of CM’s mother
Tamil Nadu governor Banwarilal Purohith, Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, opposition leader MK Stalin, state ministers and actor Rajinikanth were among the prominent personalities who expressed their condolences for the bereaving Chief Minister and his family.
Thavasayu Ammal, mother of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami passed away late last night due to geriatric illness was laid to rest at Salem on Tuesday. State leaders including MDMK general secretary Vaiko, PMK founder S Ramadoss, , DMDK treasurer Premalatha Vijayakanth also expressed their condolences.
The entire state Cabinet along with the party convenor O Paneerselvam paid homage at Salem. A battery of senior officials including Chief Secretary K Shanmugham and District Collectors also paid their homage in Salem.
The ruling AIADMK also condoled the death and most of the party related works were cancelled on Tuesday.
According to party sources EPS will spend a couple of days in Salem and then return to Chennai on Saturday to attend the AIADMK founder’s day celebration.
AIADMK leaders OPS and EPS will preside over the AIADMK founder’s day celebration on October 17 at party headquarters in Royapettah, AIADMK sources said.
Meanwhile, DMK president MK Stalin and party general secretary Duraimurugan on Monday condoled the demise of Chief Minister’s mother.
Stalin, who also offered his condolences to Palaniswami and his bereaved family members over phone, said that he was saddened by the news of the death of CM’s 93-year-old mother Thavasayi Ammal.
