Tamil Nadu COVID recoveries near 6 lakh-mark

Tamil Nadu on Saturday recorded 5,242 fresh Covid-19 cases and 67 deaths, taking the positive case tally to 6,51,370 with 10,187 mortalities.

The covid-19 recovery rate stands at 91.6%.

However, the number of cases of Covid-19 in Tamil Nadu continue to be on a marginally increasing trend. There are currently 44,150 active cases in the southern state.

Chennai reported 1,272 fresh cases while 1,173 persons were discharged. The city reported 23 deaths, taking its toll to 3,396. The total number of positive cases stands at 1,80,751 in the city. While 1,63,778 persons have been discharged, the city has 13,577 active cases.

Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra are the only states to have surpassed 10,000 deaths.

Tamil Nadu has tested 82,32,725 samples and 79,96,148 people so far, according to the media bulletin issued by the Directorate of Public Health.
