Referring to the attempts made by the Congress-led Rajasthan government to bypass the Centre’s farm legislations, which, he claimed, would protect the state farmers, Alagiri referred to the suggestion made by Congress president (interim) Sonia Gandhi to non-Congress ruled states and said the AIADMK regime in Tamil Nadu should accept the suggestion and make efforts within its powers, as did Rajasthan on the issue.

“I would like to remind Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami that he could atone for betraying the state farmers by blindly supporting the farm legislations.”

Reiterating that the farm legislation was an assault on federalism, the TNCC president referred to the announcement of Punjab chief minister Amrinder Singh that he would move the Supreme Court against the legislations, and said the experts in agriculture sector have explain with evidence that the legislations enacted by the Centre through voice vote in the Rajya Sabha would only benefit corporate firms and everyone was aware of the intention of the BJP led Centre which has enacted the legislation on agriculture, which falls in state subject.

Explaining the legislative route adopted by the Congress led regime in Rajasthan to bypass the Central legislations, the TNCC chief said the executive power used by Rajasthan government allows Food Corporation of India and Warehouse Corporations of the Centre and Rajasthan to only procure farm produce only at MSP (Minimum support price).
