AICC secy’s remarks on govt formation in TN fails to bother Stalin
AICC secretary in-charge of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) Dinesh Gundu Rao did not need long to get a feel of Dravidian politics. Rao learnt a lesson on managing allies even in his maiden visit to the state.

Only he had learnt it the hard way. Not content with issuing a clarification statement, Dinesh was said to have personally attempted to clarify Stalin on Saturday about his statement made in a presser a few days ago at Kamarajar Hall that the DMK led combine would form government in 2021 Assembly polls. Accompanied by his party state president K S Alagiri and Congress legislature party leader K R Ramasamy, Rao had visited Stalin at Anna Arivalayam on Friday.
Stalin, sources revealed, had brushed aside the voluntary clarification.
A party source who did not wish to be named quoted the DMK chief as saying that he was not bothered about it, apparently, dismissing even what the Congress portrayed as an innocuous statement misconstrued by the media.
A Congress source with knowledge of the development said the DMK chief just sidestepped the issue even as the AICC envoy began to clarify and shifted to other issues of concern.
A Congress spokesman reacted to the issue saying, “The issue was speculated in the media. We realized it immediately and issued a clarifications statement. The whole episode issue was put to bed in a few hours. They (DMK) were happy with us issuing the statement. It did not feature in the courtesy meeting Friday.”
“Otherwise, the meeting went well. His comment on alliance was misinterpreted as coalition by media. The AICC in charge has learnt that he should be prudent in his choice of words,” the spokesman added.
