CM postpones review meetings on COVID-19 in southern districts

Scheduled to attend a COVID-19 review meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 23, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has postponed his review meetings in southern districts of Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar and Kanniyakumari.

“Chief Minister had planned to conduct COVID-19 review meetings in Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar and Kanniyakumari districts on September 22 and 23 but as review meeting with Prime Minister through video conferencing is scheduled on September 23, Chief Minister had postponed his review meetings in Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar and Kanniykumari. However, the review meeting in Ramanathapuram will be conducted as scheduled on Sept 22,” said a press communique.

Ever since the COVID-19 lockdown commenced, Chief Minister had been holding review meetings with district collectors on a regular basis. After relaxations were provided in lockdown, Chief Minister went to districts to assess the COVID-19 works undertaken in each district. So far, Chief Minister had reviewed COVID-19 works in 24 districts. On Tuesday morning, review meeting was planned in Ramanathapuram district and in the evening review meeting was planned in Thoothukudi district. On Wednesday morning the review meeting was planned in Kanniyakumari district and in the evening in Virudhunagar district. However, due to the meeting with PM, Chief Minister will have review meeting in Ramanathapuram district alone.

CM appreciates Velumani for awards

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister appreciated Minister for Municipal Administration S P Velumani for his departments receiving two national awards. Recently, SKOCH group presented SKOCH Golden Award for ‘Dial for Water 2.0’ scheme implemented by Chennai Metro Water and state government’s initiate of storing water in stone quarries received National Water Innovation Award, 2020.
