Pondy's MNM State President Dr MAS Subramanian succumbs to COVID19
Pondicherry State president of the Makkal Neethi Maiam (MNM) and former Pondicherry MLA Dr MAS Subramanian died of COVID-19 on Thursday.

Dr. MAS Subramanian, former MLA from Pondicherry and a doctor by profession contracted Coronavirus a few days ago and was undergoing treatment in a private hospital.
Unfortunately, Dr Subramanian succumbed to the virus, on the early hours of Thursday. He was 77 and is survived by a son and daughter.
The three time MLA, was elected as AIADMK member to the legislative assembly in 1985 from Ariyankuppam constituency. After the demise of the party's chief, he then quit the AIADMK and started his own party Makkal DMK in the late 80s.
However, he joined the DMK in the late 90s and represented the party in the 2001 general elections. He was the member of the legislative assembly from Mudalairpet from two consecutive two years:Â 2001 to 2006 and from 2006 to 2011.
Later, he joined the MNM and was appointed as the party's state president in 2018. He contested in the recent election, representing MNM. The party chief and actor Kamal Haasan condoled the demise of Subramanian. Kamal Haasan shared his condolence message in his Twitter handle.
