Tamil Nadu tests 4 million persons for COVID-19
Tamil Nadu on Sunday recorded 5,975 new cases of COVID-19, including 33 imported cases from other states and countries. With this, the total number of cases in Tamil Nadu has reached 3,79,385.

The Tamil Nadu government has ensured medical screening of 4 crore persons in the state for COVID-19.
The number of patients who have been cured of Covid has reached 3.19 lakh in Tamil Nadu since the pandemic outbreak in March.
On Sunday, 6,047 patients were cured and discharged from hospital. The rate of patients getting cured is at 84 per cent.
The daily toll dipped slightly as 97 new deaths were reported from across the State, of which 21 were in private hospitals and 76 in government hospitals. Maximum deaths were reported in Chennai - 19 casualties. The Tamil Nadu toll stands at 6,517. Of the total deaths, Chennai accounts for 2,581.
Currently, 53,541 persons are under treatment (including isolation) in the state.
Chennai continued its spike and reported 1,298 cases. Coimbatore recorded highest number of cases after Chennai with 392 cases on Sunday. Cuddalore reported high cases with 380 new ones followed by Thiruvallur (354) and Chengalpattu with 352 infections. Several other districts including Kancheepuram and Salem reported more than 200 cases of COVID-19.
There are 13,223 active cases in Chennai currently, which also includes the number of patients under home isolation, followed by Tiruvallur district which has 3,850 active cases and Coimbatore with 3,098 active cases.
Tamil Nadu has tested 42,06,617 samples and 40,63,324 people so far, according to the media bulletin issued by the Directorate of Public Health.
