In his letter, a copy of which was circulated to the media, Stalin described her as an “embodiment of duty consciousness” and said that Tamil Nadu police has flourished as a forerunner in the country by producing many able officers. The whole of Tamil Nadu lauded Maheswari, who, despite hearing the agonising news about her father Narayanaswamy breathing his last, had led the parade of cops and saluted with pride in the ‘I’ Day flag hoisting ceremony led by Tirunelveli district collector. “You have demonstrated to your subordinates and to the one’s joining the force in future that duty was more important than love,” Stalin said in his letter.

Meanwhile, in another statement, Stalin asked chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to explain why the state government had recommended the managing director of Tamil Nadu Medical Services Council (TNMSC), instead of health secretary to the four-member committee ordered by the Madras High Court to study implementation of 50% reservation for OBCs in medical admission under all-India quota.

He also asked the CM to explain why the government had filed a petition seeking interim injunction against the HC order even while nominating an officer for the committee. Stalin said the AIADMK regime should act transparently on the OBC quota issue without creating a confusion by adopting a double standard.
