Vellore parents ill-treated by son after bequeathing property, get it back

Thanks to the intervention of Vellore Collector A Shanmuga Sundaram, they got their property back. Rajakannu and Vasantha residents of Gangai Amman Koil street in Pernambut were in their late 70s. Their son Prabhu somehow managed to get his father to bequeath his property to him and after that Prabhu started ill-treating the old couple. Unable to accept such treatment, the couple petitioned Shanmuga Sundaram following which he ordered the Gudiyattam sub collector Sheik Mansoor to do the needful. Soon Rajakannu’s land registered in Prabhu’s name was cancelled under the 2007 Maintenance of the Elderly Act.
