COVID-19 cases in Tamil Nadu near 3 lakh mark, 100+ fatalities reported in single day

Chennai has detected 989 new Covid cases, while the other districts have reported 5,005 fresh infections. The death toll in the state has crossed 100 today. The total number of fatalities in the state has risen to 4,927. 

While Chennai is seeing a low in new cases, other districts in Tamil Nadu are contributing a large chunk to the freshly reported cases. Thiruvallur and Chengalpet have recorded 396 and 397 new cases respectively. Kancheepuram has detected 393 Covid cases today.  

TN has reported 119 Covid fatalities today. On the green side, 6,020 patients have been discharged following Covid treatment in the state's hospitals. The active cases in TN now stand at 53,336.
