Cautioning the AIADMK regime that it was inhuman to continuously extend e-pass system while relaxations were given, Stalin asked the CM not to trouble the people by creating an artificial ban and facilitate corruption in inter-district transportation, including Chennai through distribution of e-passes.

Remarking that cancellation of e-pass distribution was an immediate necessity for people to benefit from the shutdown relaxations, DMK president, in a statement, said that e-passes were unnecessary to people who make their own travel arrangements.

Stalin sought to know why the state government, which claims to follow Centre’s guidelines on everything, was not adhering to it on e-pass issue even after the Centre announced that e-passes were not mandatory. He also questioned what kind of administration would allow companies to open and employees to turn up for work and still insist on availing e-passes.

Claiming that irregularities were reported in the issue from the beginning, Stalin alleged that AIADMK regime was turning a Nelson’s eye to reported scam in availing e-passes which were going at a rate of Rs 5,000- 10,000 per pass in Chennai, Rs 500 in Cuddalore and Rs 2,500 in Vellore. People were wondering who benefits from it, which is fraught with irregularities, Stalin asked.
