Despite Intel caution, Chief Minister hits the road
Even as the Hindu outfits celebrated the Bhoomi pooja of Ram temple at Ayodhya, the Tamil Nadu police are on their toes as Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami began his six-day road trip amidst pandemic from Chennai to Salem to Dindigul to Madurai to Tirunelveli, stretching from Wednesday to Monday.

A note from the Intelligence wing said that reliable inputs from intelligence agencies indicate an enhanced threat to the CM in view of the prevailing law and order situation and calls for additional security measures.
The communication, send to commissioners of police and superintendents of cities and districts the Chief Minister is travelling through, from the security branch CID, asked for necessary security arrangements on ‘Z Plus’ scale as the CM faces threat from religious fundamentalists, Tamil chauvinists and disgruntled elements. The core cell which handles the close proximity security for the Chief Minister will be in charge of his safety and security, sources noted.
The Chief Minister left for Salem on Wednesday afternoon. He is expected to travel to Dindigul from Salem on Thursday and from there to Madurai. On Friday, Palanisamy is expected to travel to Tirunelveli and later back to Salem. And he is expected to stay at Salem till Sunday night and later return to Chennai.
