Madurai youth bags all India 7th rank, visually challenged girl comes 286th
A 27-year old aspirant from Madurai, Ganesh Kumar Baskar, has brought laurels to Tamil Nadu after having excelled in the UPSC civil services exam 2019.

He secured the seventh rank pan India and wishes to be a part of the IFS. “By serving through IFS, I could get global exposure and represent my country abroad,” he told DT Next on Tuesday. Baskar, who lives in Nagercoil, said he was overjoyed at his results and dedicated his achievement to his parents. “This was my second attempt after 2018. Initially, I would study six hours a day and stepped up my preparations a month prior to the exam,” Baskar said.
A visually challenged girl, Poorna Sundari, a 25-year-old resident of Maninagaram, Madurai, has secured all-India 286th rank. After having completed her studies in 2015, she moved to Chennai and joined a coaching centre to clear the civil services exam. She has made four attempts since 2016 and now wishes to become an IAS officer.
