Chennai’s neighbouring dists record over 1K cases, Tamil Nadu crosses 2 lakh mark
In a new high, Tamil Nadu recorded 6,988 new COVID-19 positive cases, from testing a whopping 64,315 samples, taking the tally of coronavirus infected people to 2,06,737.

While 7,758 Covid-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals, 6,988 tested positive, in Tamil Nadu over the past 24 hours. The number of active cases stands at 52,273.
The state also recorded 89 deaths on Saturday, with a total of 3,409 people succumbing to the virus.
While Chennai is witnessing a mild increase in the number of COVID-19 cases with the city reporting 1,329 cases (93,537 overall cases) on Saturday, the neighbouring districts of Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur reported an alarming rise with 449, 442 and 385 new cases over the past 24 hours. The combined tally of these three districts has crossed 1,200 cases in a day.
Tamil Nadu has tested 22,87,334 samples and 22,00,433 people so far, according to the media bulletin issued by the Directorate of Public Health.
So far, 151,055 people have been discharged, according to a state government statement.
There are 13,923 active cases as 1,131 people have been discharged in Chennai.
The number of infected children in the age group 0-12 years went up to 10,344.
