Slamming the AIADMK regime for adding 444 unreported fatalities to the Covid death tally of the state, Stalin, interacting with party workers via video call, said the state government, which covered up deaths, has revealed the actual death count after the numbers rose beyond the level after which it could not be hidden.

The regime led by Palaniswami was the only gruesome period which misrepresented facts even in deaths of the people, he added.

Accusing the AIAMDK regime of killing people for its political gains, Stalin, who is also the Leader of Opposition, said the government’s statement has belied the claim of the Chief Minister that it does not hide death count and it does not have to cover up deaths.

“Palaniswami should apologise to the people for covering up innocent people’s death. Though he has uttered many lies so far, this one is related to the lives of people. Hence, he should apologize publicly,” the Leader of Opposition remarked.

The DMK president added that the government could be considered as being truthful to the people only if it released daily district-wise break up of deaths from the beginning.

“If the government really acts in accordance with ICMR guidelines, it should detail the guidelines to the people. When I pointed out that there were mysteries in Corona deaths in the state, the ministers accused me of politicizing. Now, 444 deaths have been revealed. It makes us doubt as to how many such deaths were covered up in the state,” the Leader of Opposition said.
