Tamil Nadu reports highest-ever single day spike of 5,849 Covid-19 positive cases

Tamil Nadu has reported 5,849 fresh coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, according to the State's Health department. This is the first time the single day toll has crossed 5k. The total tally has risen to 1,86,492 in the state.Â
TN registered 74 fatalities today.Â
Chennai city has detected 1,171 new Covid infections, taking the over all number to 89,561. 21 people died of Covid-19 in Chennai today. After Chennai, Thiruvallur recorded the highest number of cases in TN. It reported 430 fresh Covid-19 infections.Â
Ranipet saw 414 new positive cases, while Kanchipuram detected 325 cases. Chengalpet reported 223 cases.Â
About 4,910 patients have been discharged today alone, giving a sign of hope. A total of 1,31,583 patients have been recovered and discharged so far.
As of today, the active cases in Tamil Nadu stands at 51,765. The number of positive cases between age 0-12 stands at 9,357.
