Tamil Nadu reports highest-ever single day spike of 5,849 Covid-19 positive cases

TN registered 74 fatalities today. 

Chennai city has detected 1,171 new Covid infections, taking the over all number to 89,561. 21 people died of Covid-19 in Chennai today. After Chennai, Thiruvallur recorded the highest number of cases in TN. It reported 430 fresh Covid-19 infections. 

Ranipet saw 414 new positive cases, while Kanchipuram detected 325 cases. Chengalpet reported 223 cases. 

About 4,910 patients have been discharged today alone, giving a sign of hope. A total of 1,31,583 patients have been recovered and discharged so far.

As of today, the active cases in Tamil Nadu stands at 51,765. The number of positive cases between age 0-12 stands at 9,357.
