The online registration of applications for engineering admissions would end on August 16. Many students evinced interest to enroll themselves through the portal. Sources from the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE), the nodal agency to conduct engineering admissions, on Wednesday said that of the total 81,011 number of applications, more than 90 per cent of the candidates were from TN. A senior official from the DOTE also said last year the number of online applications during the first week was only about 60,000.

“However, this year as JEE, NEET and other competitive exams were yet to be conducted, more number of candidates started registering themselves,” he said and claimed that the number of applications would soon cross one lakh mark. The official said that since mark sheets were not distributed to the Class 12 State Board students, the uploading of certificates will begin only from July 31 to August 20. Stating that assigning random number will be done on August 21, the official said original certificate verifications will begin from August 24 till September 1 with candidates should go to student’s facilitation centres, which was set up across all the districts.

He said the publication of rank list will be on September 7 and counselling for special reservation category students will start from September 10 to September 14.

Pointing out that about 50 student’s facilitation centres has been set up across the state, he said according to the further requirements the number of centres will be increased.
