Unaided private schools in TN can collect 40 percent fee: Madras HC
The Madras High Court has said that private schools can collect up to 40 per cent of the tuition fees for the current academic year on or before August 1 and another 35 per cent of the tuition fees can be recovered after 2 months.

The petition was filed on behalf of the Federation of Private Schools seeking to quash the Tamil Nadu government's order regarding tuition fees.
The case was called for hearing today. Government pleader said that the schools were permitted to collect the tution fee from the parents in 3 installments. 25pc during lock down period, while other 25 pc can be collected after school reopens and another 25pc can be collected after 3 months of reopening of school. The remaining 25 pc is left to the discretion decision-making committee of the respective schools.
Mean while the petitioner's counsel contented that the fee has to be collected for the purpose of salary payment to the teachers who conduct regular online sessions to the students. He also urged the Court to pass orders permitting the schools to collect 80 per cent of the tuition of which 50pc shall be paid in the first installment.
Considering the plea of the petitioner and respondent's counsel, the Madras High Court has passed an order directing the un-aided private schools to collect up to 40 per cent of the tuition fees for the current academic year on or before August 1 and another 35 per cent of the tuition fees can be recovered after 2 months. The above orders shall be enforced until further orders from the Court.
