    Two rural police stations in Coimbatore have been closed after six cops tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday.

    Five policemen, including a woman constable tested positive at Thudiyalur police station. Swab samples of about 30 cops from the station have been taken for testing. The station has been shifted temporarily to a marriage hall a few kilometers away. The police station is likely to resume functioning after fumigation. Few more policemen who exhibited flu like symptoms have been quarantined and their test results are expected soon. Also, the Sulur police station has been closed after a constable tested positive for COVID-19. Over the last few days Coimbatore has been witnessing a steady increase in the number of COVID-19 positive cases with about 117 new infections on Sunday taking the total tally to 1,261.
