Coronavirus infects 90k in Tamil Nadu, recoveries cross 50k
For a sixth day in a row, Tamil Nadu crossed 3,500 Covid-19 cases.

According to the state health ministry’s bulletin, there were 3,943 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours and 60 patients succumbed to the disease during that time.
The cumulative tally stood at 90,167 and the active cases at 38,889, the state health bulletin said.
Chennai remained at the top among the 37 districts, as it recorded 2,393 of the fresh cases, taking its total to 58,327, followed by Chengalpattu (5,419), Tiruvallur (3,830), Madurai (2,557) and Kancheepuram (1,977).
With 60 more fatalities reported in the last 24 hours, the number of COVID-19 casualties rose to 1,201.
On the positive side, 2,325 Covid-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals, taking the total number of cured persons to 50,074.
So far, 11,70,683 samples (30,242 samples today) have been taken for testing. COVID-19 tests were being done in 47 government and 43 private labs all over the state, it said.
The number of infected children in the age group 0-12 went up to 4,437.
