Tamil Nadu crosses 3,500 Covid-19 cases for fifth day in a row
According to the state health ministry’s bulletin, there were 3,949 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours and 62 patients succumbed to the disease during that time.

The cumulative tally stood at 86,224 and the active cases at 37,331, the state health bulletin said.
Chennai remained at the top among the 37 districts, as it recorded 2,167 of the fresh cases, taking its total to 55,969, followed by Chengalpattu (5,242), Tiruvallur (3,656), Madurai (2,302) and Kancheepuram (1,876).
With 62 more fatalities reported in the last 24 hours, the number of COVID-19 casualties rose to 1,141.
On the positive side, 2,212 Covid-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals, taking the total number of cured persons to 47,749.
So far, 11,40,441 samples (30,039 samples today) have been taken for testing. COVID-19 tests were being done in 47 government and 43 private labs all over the state, it said.
The number of infected children in the age group 0-12 went up to 4225.
