In an official memorandum issued on Saturday, Registrar General C Kumarappan said following a review, the administrative committee has directed the subordinate courts in 28 districts (except Periyakulam taluk in Theni District) excluding Madurai and Puducherry, to continue functioning in the same manner until further orders. The physical court hearing in Periyakulam taluk was suspended till June 30 following the lockdown announced by the Municipal Commissioner, the memorandum said.

Meanwhile, another memorandum said the administrative committee has also directed that wherever any report relating to infection of officers/staff members is received, all Principal District Judges should ensure that the standard protocol in respect of prevention is undertaken and all possible medical aid be provided to the affected, with other measures required to keep the court premises safe.

The direction on adhering to the standard protocol came after receiving reports from certain Principal District Judges with regard to the officers and staff members of subordinate courts affected by COVID-19 pandemic.
