Stop infections to win people's goodwill, Stalin ‘advises' Chief Minister
DMK president MK Stalin on Sunday said that Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami could earn goodwill only by eliminating coronavirus and not by underreporting COVID-19 positive cases.

Stalin also advised the CM to pay heed to the suggestions of people and people’s representatives to create coronavirus-free Tamil Nadu.
Taking exception to the statement of the CM that only God knows when the virus would vanish, Stalin recalled the past statements of Palaniswami and said the CM was struggling to contain the spread even after five lockdowns. Remarking that the medical fraternity was shocked by Palaniswami’s statement that it was natural to catch cold and fever, the DMK president wondered if common cold and coronavirus were the same.
“Did 704 people die due to common cold and fever?” Stalin asked, before seeking to know if the CM has not realised the virulence of the virus still.
Justifying that he was faulting the government only because it has committed mistakes aplenty, the Leader of Opposition asked, “Who is at fault for allowing several thousand and lakhs of people at Koyambedu bus stop and market respectively? Who allowed people to breath down each other’s neck at Tasmac shops during lock down? Who allowed people to gather in thousands at fish markets? Who is at fault for covering up COVID deaths and testing numbers?”
Questioning the high testing numbers in Salem than in worst affected Chennai and neighbouring districts, Stalin said, “Will it be sufficient to test only in Salem? Palaniswami is functioning like a CM of Salem union territory. When will he consider himself as chief minister of Tamil Nadu?”
