The measure has been initiated in the wake of flurry of complaints of patients hoodwinking officials at the border check posts and entering the hospital through different routes without e-passes, officials said. Currently, the hospital’s COVID-19 ward has 25 patients, including 13 from Chennai and Bengaluru. Many have reportedly admitted themselves without availing the mandatory e-pass, officials said. The current vehicle check has been introduced after an employee in the hospital’s car park tested positive for COVID19. Also, two of the hospital’s doctors and another two, who sought employment, were found to have contracted the virus, officials said.

The hospital has two vehicular entrances, one pedestrian entrance and exit and another vehicular exit which are manned by the hospital’s security staff. From Saturday, both vehicular entrances have come under the police control as part of measures to prevent vehicles entering the premises without e-passes.
