Govt to issue guidelines for virtual classroom sessions soon
With controversies on the rise in conducting online classes for school students, the Tamil Nadu government will soon bring new guidelines for the virtual classroom sessions by passing an ordinance.

At present, as there is no clue about re-opening of schools, many private institutions across the State have started online classes for the new academic year.
Since there were no specific guidelines from the State, management of the schools, including teachers, has framed their own rules in selecting timings and modes of online-classes.
A senior official from the Directorate of School Education told DT Next that there were several complaints from the parents of private school students about the erratic timings of classes and internet issues. Similarly, experts have suggested that maximum learning at this point of time are in turn overburdening them with long study hours, longer screen time, and assignments. “There are also complaints that some schools were forcing the students to wear the uniforms during the online session,” he claimed.
Meanwhile, a public interest litigation has been filed at the Madras High Court seeking to restrain the State and Centre from holding online classes, which, it alleged, was exposing children to pornographic websites.
