    Tamil Nadu records 1,515 new COVID-19 cases in biggest single-day spike

    Chennai alone registered 1,155 fresh cases on Sunday as a symbol of the severity Tamil Nadu is going through.

    Tamil Nadu's curve doesn't look like flattening any time soon. The state continues to surge past 1,000 cases for many days.

    Chennai saw the highest number of infections at 1,155 taking the total tally to 22,149 and is followed by Chengalpattu (1,854), Tiruvallur (1,329), Kancheepuram (516) and Thiruvannamalai (492).
    The state also reported 18 deaths, taking the death toll to 269. 
    On the positive side, 604 Covid-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals, taking the total number of cured persons to 16,999 out of the total infected number of 31, 667.
    The number of active cases including in the isolation centres is at 14,396.
    On Sunday, 16,275 samples were tested taking the total to 5.92 lakh. 
    The number of infected children in the age group 0-12 went up to 1,699.
