Last year, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami had launched the State government’s new television channel, ‘Kalvi Tholaikkaatchi’ (education TV) exclusively for school students. At present, 24X7 channel is telecasting various programmes, including video lessons for Class 10 students and career guidance programmes.

A senior official from the School Education Department told DT Next that the free NEET coaching classes conducted by the State government was stopped in January due to local body polls and long holidays.

“With online free NEET session is expected to start from June 15, the students have already started registering themselves for the training classes. However, following feedback and suggestions from the academicians that many students, especially in the rural areas might not have access to the internet, it was felt that telecasting training programme on the government’s educational channel would be useful for them.”

Stating that the shooting has already started involving medical experts and professors, the official said training programmes would be telecast in the morning, with a repeat in the evening.

“We have already prepared a comprehensive training programme, which will be in several parts covering all the topics so that it would be easy for the students to appear for NEET,” he added.

The official said that in addition to this, e-lectures with clear explanations of easy solving methods by the experts on difficult subjects would be made available through the channel during the second week of June.

The authorities are also planning to introduce an online interaction programme on television, through which students can call the experts and clear doubts.

“Also, one programme will be introduced to solve the problems in the old question papers,” he added. The official added that shooting of e-lecturers in connection with other competitive exams, including JEE, has also started.
