State readies more incentives for MSMEs

As thousands of workers in Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) had lost their jobs due to COVID-19 pandemic, the State government is planning to provide more sops for the sector to bring economy back on track.

A meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, on steps to be taken to revive the MSME sector in the State was held at Secretariat on Thursday. Department officials and top bureaucrats who attended the meeting urged the State government to provide more incentives for the sector.

“State government is taking all possible steps to review the MSME sector. Recently, the State government through Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation had provided loan to the tune of Rs 102 crore for 799 MSMEs involved in the manufacturing of PPEs and other essential lifesaving equipment for COVID-19,” said an official requesting anonymity.
