Parents from Madurai watch and bless as girl weds in Mumbai

The betrothal of Archana, daughter of Kannan and Meena, residents of Kuruvithurai near Sholavandhan in Madurai, with Rajeshwar, a Mumbai resident, took place on October 30. Soon after this the families of the bride and the bridegroom decided to conduct their marriage in Kuruvithurai on May 27, where a hall was also booked.

After the betrothal, Archana left for Mumbai, where she got a job in a software company, and stayed in a relative’s house.

Subsequently, the lockdown was announced and families of the bride and bridegroom were stuck in their houses. However, the families decided to perform the marriage on the fixed auspicious day in Mumbai itself where the girl and youth were staying.

As planned, the marriage of Rajeshwar with Archana was performed on Wednesday (May 27) at a temple in Antop Hill in Mumbai. Parents of Aarchana, who could not get passes to travel to Mumbai, turned emotional after watching the entire wedding via WhatsApp and said it was different experience. Moments after tying the knot, the newly-wed couple got blessings through the same WhatsApp video call.
