Following this, IndiGo said that crew of the flight has been grounded for 14 days.“We are in the process of notifying other passengers as per the government guidelines, to ensure safety of our passengers and staff,” the airline said.

The person, who is working at a hotel in Chennai, has been quarantined in ESI Government Hospital. Among the 361 passengers, who arrived at Coimbatore International Airport from various destinations on Monday, he was the only one to test positive for COVID-19.It may be noted that Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami had opposed Centre’s decision of resuming domestic flight services as it may further increase the spread of infection.On the first day, two flights from Chennai and one each from Delhi and Bengaluru flew to Coimbatore. Special teams from the Public Health Department collected swab samples from all passengers on their arrival at the airport.Residents of Coimbatore were quarantined in a private school in Singanallur and another hotel while people hailing from neighbouring districts were sent away.

Other passengers were sent home and asked to be under home quarantine for 14 days, while the youth was taken for treatment.Due to COVID-19 impact, the hotel where he was working remained closed since May 5. Since then, he stayed in a lodge in Triplicane and flew to Coimbatore to meet his friends. Health officials from Coimbatore shared the information to his contacts in Chennai to trace out his contacts in the lodge.“As the passenger is from Chennai, it has been added to the caseload in Chennai,” official said.
