Man kills wife’s child from 1st marriage, held
A daily wager was arrested on Thursday for killing a 2-year-old girl born out of his wife’s first marriage. He was arrested by the KV Kuppam police based on a complaint from the deceased child’s father.

Lavanya (20) married lorry driver Sakthivel (25) of Tirupattur in 2017. They had a child Kalairanjani (2). However, the couple got separated due to various differences. Lavanya settled in Sathuvachari on the outskirts of Vellore and worked as a daily wager in KV Kuppam. There she fell in love with Praveen Kumar (25) her colleague and married him three months ago hiding her earlier marriage. She introduced the girl as her deceased sister’s daughter to him.
A few days ago, the child was found in a swoon by Lavanya and the doctors in Gudiyattam GH declared her brought dead. Lavanya then informed Sakthivel and made arrangements to hand over the body to him.
However, Sakthivel becoming suspicious of the death, complained to Tirupattur SP P Vijayakumar. Based on his request Vellore SP Pravesh Kumar ordered KV Kuppam police to investigate. A case was registered and Lavanya, her mother Santhi, Praveen Kumar and his father Venketesan were questioned.
Praveen Kumar confessed that he had killed the child as Lavanya hid the fact from him.
