The examination for Class 12 was held from March 2 to 24, with more than eight lakh students appearing in it.

A senior official from the Directorate of School Education told DT Next that the answer sheet evaluation, which was expected to start during the second week of April, was postponed twice due to extension of the total shutdown.

“With the new schedule for the evaluation fixed from May 27, answer scripts correction work will go till June first week,” he said adding “to start with, the answer sheets would be transported from respective zones, shuffled and then be taken to evaluation camps in each district amid tight security.”

Stating that the language papers have already been transported, the official noted that the remaining would be shifted in two days amid tight security before the evaluation process begins.

“About 50 lakh answer sheets of over eight lakh students have to corrected for which over 25,000 evaluators will be deployed,” he said.

He said once the evaluation is completed for a particular subject, the answer scripts would be immediately uploaded in the central server system on the same day.

“To strengthen security this year, CCTV cameras would be installed at the evaluation centres, which would be monitored by the officials at the headquarters in Chennai,” he said

Pointing out that the CD containing the answer sheet data would be handed over to the head of the directorate by the first week of June and the results will be announced by second week of June.
