Speaking to media after inaugurating ‘kudimaramathu’ works in Dharmapuri district, Anbalagan said that engineering and arts and science colleges have been allotted to the Health Department to use them to quarantine those affected by COVID-19.

“Hence, no decision has been taken on reopening college and conducting exams. Once Tamil Nadu becomes completely COVID-19 free and when all those staying in colleges were sent home, those campuses will be completely disinfected. Thereafter, the colleges will be reopened after alleviating all the fears of students,” he said.

The Higher Education Department is ready to begin the academic year in colleges, conduct exams and start engineering counselling only after COVID-19 goes away from Tamil Nadu, he further added.
