Youth killed for talking to girl in Kovai, 3 arrested

According to police, the girl, aged 14 was alone at her house when R Gautham from Chinnampalayam village working in a garment shop had visited her on last Thursday knowing well that her parents were away.

They were engaged in a chat when the girl’s mother arrived. Anticipating trouble, Gautham tried to flee. However, the mother locked him up and informed her relatives.

The girl’s father, her brother and uncle questioned him. Suddenly, they began to assault him with cricket bats and wooden logs. He received severe injuries to his head and collapsed.

Gautham’s friends, who arrived there, rushed him to Pollachi GH. He was later shifted to CMCH. But, he succumbed to injuries on Sunday.

Following this, police registered a case of murder and arrested the family members of the girl.
