Case filed by contractor will expose EPS govt graft: Stalin
Leader of Opposition M K Stalin on Sunday said the corruptions of the highway ministry led by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami even during the lockdown period would be exposed by a High Court case challenging highway tender irregularity.

Referring to a public interest litigation (PIL) moved by a registered contractor against a highway road maintenance tender, Stalin said, “The High Court will definitely hear the case. The hearing will expose the tender irregularities of Edappadi (CM). He might abuse his power to drag even this case, like he had obtained stay in all other cases.” However, the corruptions of the corona period would come to the public forum after the HC hears the case.
Seeking to know as to how long the power abuse would continue, Stalin said the wheels of justice would spin and the corruptions cum tender irregularities of the lockdown period would be brought to the public forum. “No one can escape from any corruption case,” the LoP remarked. Durai Jayakumar, in his writ petition, submitted that the e-tender for maintenance of 461km long highway covering Thanjavur, Orathanadu, Peravurani and Pattukottai sub divisions has been floated in such a way that the works that ought to be done by 32 contractors could be given to one contractor.
The petitioner contractor has further informed the court that works mentioned in the tender were only worth Rs 500 crore, but the tender has been floated for Rs 1,165 crore.
