14 people under observation at government quarantine facility test positive for Coronavirus

As many as 14 persons, who were kept under observation at a government quarantine facility in this district were tested positive for Novel coronavirus on Thursday night.

Official sources said on Friday that the close contacts of the persons, who had  already tested positive, were kept under quarantine facility at the make shift hospital set up in the hostels of the Government Engineering College at Sengipatti in  the district.

Of the total 48 persons kept under quarantine facility, the blood and swab results of 14 of them tested positive. The remaining 34 were tested negative.

All the 14 persons infected with Coronavirus were shifted to the COVID-19 isolation ward at Thanjavur Medical College Hospital for treatment.

With this, the total number of Coronavirus positive cases in the district rises to 33.

The timely quarantine of these persons have prevented transmission to more persons, the sources said.
