Advocates block road after attack on colleague in Tirupur
Two unidentified persons attacked a lawyer with a sickle triggering a road block protest by advocates at Madathukulam in Tirupur district on Thursday night.

The victim, Selvakumar (37), a native of Vayalur in Dindugul district, was going home in a two-wheeler when two unidentified persons followed him in another bike and attacked him on his head with a sickle near Amaravathy Bridge.
The incident took place around 9 pm, when Selvakumar was going home from his office in Madathukulam. The victim suffered a deep cut injury on his head, collapsed and fell off the bike, bleeding profusely.
The public, who witnessed the shocking incident, immediately rushed Selvakumar to Udumalpet Government Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment in a critical condition.
As the news of his attack spread, a large number of advocates resorted to road block on Coimbatore-Dindugul Road late night resulting in pile-up of vehicles. On receiving information, Udumalpet DSP Jayachandran, Inspector Rajakannan, Madathukulam and Madathukulam tahsildar Kanimozhi rushed to the spot and held talks with the protesting advocates.
After an assurance given by the police that a speedy investigation would be conducted, the advocates withdrew their protest around 11.30 pm.
