70-yr-old arrested for molesting girl in Erode

The accused Mariappan had sexually abused the girl after her parents, both daily wagers left to work. “As schools were declared holiday in view of Coronavirus threat, the girl studying in Class 3 was left in the care of the elderly man living in the neighbouring house. However, he had abused the girl on Monday,” police said.

When the parents of the victim returned from work, the girl informed them of the sexual assault and a complaint was lodged with All Women Police Station in Erode. The police arrested him under POCSO Act and produced before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
