Adopt anti-CAA resolution, VCK chief urges TN govt
VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan has urged the state to adopt a resolution against the Citizenship Amendment Act as it has been targeting the minority communities and cautioned the AIADMK not to align with the BJP anymore to avoid heavy blow in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

Speaking to reporters Thirumavalavan slammed the Delhi riots as it dented the reputation of India in the world arena. He claimed that it was a planned attack as it was executed in Gujarat earlier. He said that the government had not initiated any action against those who were behind the violence.
“We will continue to raise about the Delhi violence in the Parliament session which is scheduled on Wednesday and continue to demand the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah,” Thirumavalavan said.
He demanded a special investigation panel monitored by the Supreme Court to investigate the Delhi violence.
Meanwhile, the VCK chief urged the state government to pass a resolution against the CAA which has been demanded by the people across the state and urged that the Centre has been planning to isolate the Muslims in India. “And AIADMK should not go hand in hand with the BJP for this,” he said.
He asked the ruling AIADMK not to align with BJP in the upcoming Assembly polls so that they would avoid heavy loss. In the meantime, the VCK chief clarified that the parties aligned with the DMK had never demanded any seat in Rajya Sabha and there should not be any speculations around this.
Stir politically motivated: Union Minister Union
Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on Tuesday said agitations against the Citizenship Amendment Act were only politically motivated and nothing else. The CAA comes under the Central list and hence none could oppose it, Meghwal said, addressing office-bearers of the Puducherry state unit of the Bharatiya Janata party. He also took strong exception to the governments of Kerala and West Bengal, among others, adopting resolutions against the CAA. Besides these two states, Punjab, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh have passed similar resolutions. The Prime Minister and Home Minister had already clarified the actual position and hence all those staging agitations against CAA were doing so “only out of political motives and nothing else.” Meghwal said he had earlier visited Sri Aurobindo Ashram. He said he also had a meeting with Lt Governor Kiran Bedi.
