Rajini miffed with resistance over his idea to give up on CM post, reveals Manian
Gandhiya Makkal Iyakkam president Tamilaruvi Manian has requested actor Rajinikanth not to give up on chief minister’s post to others if his proposed party was voted to power in 2021 state polls.
Chennai
“As I warned him, none of the district secretaries agreed to his idea of giving up the CM post in the recent meeting. That is why he said he was disappointed after the meeting,” Manian, who has been meeting the actor over his political plunge, said addressing a meeting on “What is Rajinikanth’s expectation? What disappointed him?” inVillupuram.
Elaborating on his conversation with Rajinikanth, Manian said that he asked the actor to usher in alternate politics in the state and it could be achieved only if he becomes the chief minister. “Rajinikanth told me that he is launching the political party to usher in alternate politics, but it could be achieved only if he remained out of the government,” he quoted the actor.
He said Rajini wanted to separate the party and the government, it intends to form, with a “Laxman Rekha.” “So, the government will be headed by one person, while the party will be headed by another person. If the party leader takes part in the government, it will be a party’s rule not that of people’s rule,” Manian quoted Rajinikanth.
However, Manian said that he suggested to Rajinikanth that the party could be headed by someone, but the government should be headed only by Rajini.
Pointing out that how first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru did not listen to Mahatma Gandhi’s advice after assuming power and also the consolidation of power by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami in the ruling AIADMK, Manian warned Rajinikanth not to repeat the mistake of nominating someone else as chief minister candidate. “Don’t trust anyone including me. I had advised the actor,” he said.
Manian claimed that the movies of the actor, who has attained 70 years of age is doing Rs 300 crore business and the produces are still lining up offering to pay Rs 100 crore and Rs 150 crore to act in their films. “He is coming to politics giving up the huge sum of money being offered to him. Can you show one person in DMK who has come to politics for people’s development? AIADMK leaders know how to loot money from each and every department. DMK is desperate to come back to power to earn more money,” he said. He, however, said that AIADMK leaders are corrupt and the real loyal cadre of its founder MGR should be enrolled in Rajini’s party.
Echoing the views of Rajinikanth on the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR), Manian hit out at the DMK, Left parties and Congress for opposing the CAA-NRC-NPR being anti-minority legislation. “I challenge them to prove anyone minority can be expelled from the country because of the CAA-NRC-NPR. This is what Rajinikanth asked,”he added.
