Cong seeks action on NTK man for TikTok clip at Rajiv memorial

Muruganandam submitted a petition to Home Secretary with his demands and after submission addressed reporters in which he said, “Duraimurugan trespassed into the sacred memorial where Rajiv Gandhi was brutally assassinated by the LTTE extremists. In the video, Duraimurugan seems to be boasting that he is proud to say that he has assassinated Rajiv Gandhi and seems to have no hesitation to claim it in public.”

Duraimurugan courted controversy when he released a TikTok video of him performing in Rajiv Gandhi memorial where he spoke the statement of his party leader Seeman, in which he had boasted about Tamil race. When the video went viral and created a controversy, Duraimurugan deleted the video and posted another video seeking apology for it.

However, Congress leaders across the state demanded action on Duraimurugan. “The video is rubbing salt on the wounds as Duraimurugan has committed an act of sacrilege and desecration of Rajiv Gandhi memorial. Duraimurugan’s act is against national integration which has to be probed by the state government urgently,” said Muruganandam.

Meanwhile, state Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar, while addressing reporters in Koyambedu, said that people should be more responsible in using social media apps like TikTok. “Most people use TikTok for spreading negativity and spreading controversy, but it should be used responsibly. If I get a chance, I will use the app for positive issues,” said Jayakumar, after inaugurating the photo exhibition on the three year achievements of the state government.
