With complaints over the inordinate delay in the processing of application for the high-tension and low-tension industrial power connections received through the single window portal and MSME portal, the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) has directed its field officials to avoid delay and not to insist on hard copies for processing the application.
In the circular, Tangedco has directed its distribution wing of the chief engineers and the superintending engineer to maintain adequate stock of line materials, distribution transformers, meters by assessing quantum of materials required based on the pending industrial application service connections particularly from SIPCOT, SEZ, industrial corridor and Global Investors Meet memorandum of understanding.
The Industrial Guidance Bureau (IGB) of the state government has complained that in some cases the Tangedco is making inordinate delay in registering of industrial applications for want of additional documents which are not prescribed. It said that Tangedco was making delay in some cases for completing the extension and improvement works and for effecting the service connection citing various issues including scarcity of materials and right of the way issues. Moreover, the intending consumers are not informed about current status of the new service connection.
Online filing of the HT applications seeking power supply was made mandatory in Tangedco with effect from July 15, 2017 and for the LT industrial power supply it was made mandatory from July 1 last year. In order to boost rapid industrial growth in the state, the state Industries Department is keenly monitoring the status of applications seeking HT and LT supply for industrial purpose through the Single Window Portal (SWP) and MSME portal.
Tangedco, in the circular also insisted that during the execution stage, the ROW issues and material scarcity issues should be given top priority and resolved at once. “The HT applications once cancelled for any of the valid reasons as per the TNERC regulation shall not be revoked at any cost. The cancellation of applications (including MSME applications) must be on reasonable grounds and to be approved by the competent authority and the consumer shall be informed accordingly. The application status may be uploaded then and there,”it said.
