A division bench comprising Justice M Sathyanarayanan and Justice R Hemalatha before whom the plea came up for hearing on Thursday on accounting for the fact that certain pleas related to TNPSC exam scam is set to come before another bench on Friday, directed the registry to post the matter before that bench along with connected matters.

Earlier, P Wilson, Senior Advocate, appearing for DMK submitted that there is an orchestrated scam by the highest level at TNPSC to favour students studying in two private coaching centres- Manithaneyam and Appollo-in which Saidai Duraisamy, AIADMK member and former Mayor is allegedly involved.

He submitted that the scam came to light when a private news channel ran an investigative programme about freely available blank TNPSC answer sheets. Thereafter, a FIR was registered but due to the pressure exerted by senior ministers, the probe officer was changed thrice. However, on citing the remand report, which stated that the phone numbers of the paper setters, which are confidential information was leaked to the scamsters, Wilson argued that this by itself indicated the apparent involvement of the high level officials at TNPSC.

DMK’s counsel argued that the jurisdiction of state Police investigating a crime by TNPSC itself is suspect, hence the plea for CBI probe.
