Chinese crew on oil ship test negative for corona at Thoothukudi
A Hong Kong-flagged cargo vessel arrived at VO Chidambaranar Port, Thoothukudi, on Thursday. The chemical oil tanker vessel ‘Hannah’ called the VOC Port from Port of Kabil, Indonesia.

The Chinese crew on board the vessel, docked at additional berth in the VOC Port, were screened to check whether any of them had symptoms of coronavirus.
After the crew numbering 21 underwent various medical tests by a team of health staff, sources said none of the crew had such symptoms, sources said.
Thoothukudi Collector Sandeep Nanduri, when contacted, said there’s a standard protocol to medically examine all crew on board such foreign vessels and nobody is permitted to disembark from anyof the vessel.
Further, the Collector said a total of 49 persons, who returned from Singapore, Thailand and other parts of the South East Asian countries, had been observed by medical teams formed in the district.
An isolation ward had been set up at Thoothukudi Government Medical College Hospital, where no case with symptoms of Coronavirus is reported, so far. Sources said during the last month the Chinese crew on board a cargo vessel, which called the Thoothukudi seaport, came under medical examination.
