Revenue dept team inspects 30 theatres
A total of 30 cinema theatres in Vellore district were inspected by a team of 22 revenue officials to ensure that all rules pertaining to the Tamil Nadu Cinema (Regulation) Act 1957 were being followed on Tuesday.

Based on the orders of Collector A Shanmuga Sundaram, the 22 officials in the cadre of Tahsildars and special Tahsildars inspected 30 theatres, sources revealed. The theatres inspected includes 9 in Vellore town, 11 in Katpadi, 7 in Gudiyattam, 2 in Pernambut and 1 in KV Kuppam. The inspection was to ensure that rule 42 (Section 2) and rule 108 (Section 8) were followed. Sources revealed that the inspection might have been warranted by customer for fleecing them when popularactors films are screened.
