Labourers beat thief to death

According to police sources, the identity of the deceased is yet to be traced and the man had succumbed to injuries as he was attacked by construction labourers while he attempted to rob mobile phones at a construction site. The police said that the labourers noticed a man entering the site and attempting to rob a mobile phone on Sunday night. On seeing the robber, the workers surrounded and attacked him with wooden logs. Though the victim managed to escape from the spot, he fell unconscious near a park and died. Pallikaranai police sent the body for autopsy. When the police combed the CCTV footage, they found the victim running from the construction site. Five of them have been detained for enquiry and search is on to nab a few who are missing.
